Re-opening of the Guildford to Cranleigh Railway Line

There has been much talk and speculation on the possible re-opening of the line, the most likely option was a line from Peasmarsh Junction that ran just as far as Cranleigh.

It now seems very unlikely that it will ever re-open, but the track bed is now 'protected through the statutory planning process' so maybe the council hasn't dismissed the idea altogether!

JUNE 2009

A new report out in June 2009 by ATOC (Association of Train Operating Companies) lists stations and lines that are proposed to be either newly built or re-opened.

Cranleigh is amongst the list of stations that would be re-opened and a new track bed laid.
